A striking Bandeau Tiara composed of turquoise daisies set within diamonds, the piece was supposedly originally a bracelet that was put on a tiara frame and valued at 900 Swedish Kroner in the inventory of Crown Princess Margareta of Sweden, nicknamed ‘Daisy’.

Crown Princess Margareta’s only daughter, Princess Ingrid, inherited the Turquoise Daisy Bandeau among many more magnificent Turquoise Jewels after her mother’s untimely death in 1920, and most notably wore it at her first Swedish State Opening of Parliament in 1928, paired with Queen Victoria of Sweden’s Diamond Stars.

Princess Ingrid had loaned the Turquoise Daisy Bandeau to her cousin, the future Crown Princess Martha of Norway, for the Wedding of Crown Prince Leopold of Belgium and her sister, Princess Astrid of Sweden, in Brussels in 1926.

The Antique Turquoise Parure went with Princess Ingrid to Denmark when she married the future King Frederik IX in 1935, and while not worn by her, the Turquoise Daisy Bandeau was often loaned to relatives, including her niece, Princess Désirée of Sweden.

Queen Ingrid notably loaned the Turquoise Daisy Bandeau and pieces of the to her elder daughter, Crown Princess Margrethe, also nicknamed ‘Daisy’, most notably for the British State Visit to Denmark in 1957 and a Banquet held by the British Export Council at the Hotel D’Angleterre in Copenhagen in 1964.

Queen Ingrid also loaned the Turquoise Daisy Bandeau to the Swedish Madeleine Tengbom, the grandmother-in-law of her daughter Princess Benedikte, for the Wedding in 1968.

In latter years, Queen Ingrid loaned the Turquoise Daisy Bandeau to her granddaughter, Princess Nathalie of Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg, most notably for Queen Margrethe and Prince Henrik’s Silver Wedding Anniversary in 1992.

After Queen Ingrid’s death in 2000, the Turquoise Daisy Bandeau was among the jewels, which included the Baden Palmette Tiara, inherited by her elder daughter, Queen Margrethe II, who has worn it for less formal Galas usually paired with pieces of the Turquoise Parure.

In 2012, the Turquoise Daisy Bandeau was loaned by Queen Margrethe to her niece, Princess Theodora of Greece, for her Ruby Jubilee Gala.

Queen Margrethe rarely wore the Turquoise Daisy Bandeau in the latter years of her reign, though it was sometimes paired with her extensive collection of Modern Turquoises, but we may see it worn more frequently now, following her abdication.
