The sweet nod to an historic romance as this forgotten royal makes big announcement

Lady Marina Windsor, granddaughter to the Duke and Duchess of Kent, has announced that she is engaged to be married.

The 32-year-old revealed on Instagram that she is to marry Nico Macauley – an account executive at cloud security company Zscaler.

Lady Marina posted three photographs on Instagram, along with the caption which simply read “Very happy!”

The announcement of her engagement came exactly 64 years after the marriage of her grandparents at York Minster on June 8 1961.

Lady Marina is the daughter of the Earl and Countess of St Andrews, and the granddaughter of the Duke and Duchess of Kent.

She was named after her great-grandmother, Princess Marina of Greece and Denmark.

Along with her elder brother, Lord Downpatrick, Marina forfeited her place in the line of succession after being confirmed into the Roman Catholic church.

Last year, she gave an interview where she described her grandfather as an “amazing man”.

She said: “I love my grandpa. He’s an amazing man and he’s definitely inspired me.”
