The Princess of Wales enjoys sun soaked pageant

The Order of the Garter service is a major event on the royal calendar each year, with royals taking part in the service and more attending as guests. As expected, The Princess of Wales and The Duchess of Edinburgh were there and looking very summery.

The two royals were outside St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle to watch the Garter procession before the service. Both their husbands are members of the Order of the Garter and joined other knights for the walk to the chapel.

At the head of the procession was King Charles who is Sovereign of the Order. The Prince of Wales walked just behind The King and Queen Camilla while the Duke of Edinburgh was joined by the Princess Royal in the procession which took place in warm sunshine.

Watching from the Galilee Porch where they could enjoy the procession from the shade, the Princess and the Duchess countered the hot June weather with a light and bright colour palette.

Sophie chose to re-wear a favourite day dress from Suzannah London. The “Fontaine” dress is a wrap dress inspired by 1940s tailoring and silhouettes. Keen eyes will recognise the blush pink dress from the 2024 Sovereign’s Garden Party at Buckingham Palace.

Her Royal Highness also wore a coordinating wide-brimmed hat from milliner Jane Taylor and carried a white Emmy London clutch.

The Princess of Wales also returned to her closet for a re-wear. She chose a recent look, her white Self-Portrait set. She wore the cream boucle blazer and pleated midi skirt with lace detailing at the 80th Anniversary VE Day Concert last month.

Catherine finished her look off with a white, wide-brimmed Sean Barrett hat and a five row pearl necklace from Susan Caplan.

After the service, the Princess of Wales joined her husband for a carriage ride around Windsor Castle where crowds had gathered to see the royals.

Garter Day is when the annual service for the Order of the Garter, the oldest chivalric order in the country, takes place. It also marks the start of a busy time for the Royal Family as Ascot is about to get under way.
