King Charles has released a statement in which he thanks the public for the many message of support he has received following his cancer diagnosis earlier in the week.

In a message released by Buckingham Palace, His Majesty said: “As all those who have been affected by cancer will know, such kind thoughts are the greatest comfort and encouragement.

“It is equally heartening to hear how sharing my own diagnosis has helped promote public understanding and shine a light on the work of all those organisations which support cancer patients and their families across the UK and wider world. My lifelong admiration for their tireless care and dedication is all the greater as a result of my own personal experience.”

The King is now receiving regular treatment for cancer, with Buckingham Palace noting that he started at ”schedule of regular treatments” on February 5th 2024.

The cancer was detected during a recent hospital stay for treatment of an enlarged prostate.

Buckingham Palace has declined to reveal which form of cancer The King has, or his prognosis. However, it is thought that the illness has been caught early.

His doctors have advised the monarch to postpone public facing duties while he undergoes treatment.
