Meanwhile, a spokeswoman for Marlborough College told The Sun: “The College is aware that police are investigating a former member of staff following a report from a member of the public of a non-recent sexual assault.

“We are in close contact with the police as they continue their enquiries.”

Marlborough College has an impressive list of alumni beyond Kate, which includes comedian Jack Whitehall, British public personality Sally Bercow, and Samantha Cameron, wife of former PM David Cameron.

It is highly regarded as one of the best co-educational independent schools in the country, with sprawling facilities, particularly within the sporting department, with many of the pupils partaking in extracurricular activities during their breaks.
