The Dutch Royal Family hosted King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia of Sweden on their second State Visit to The Netherlands on this day in 2009, 15 years ago, following their previous State Visit to The Netherlands in 1976 and the Dutch State Visit to Sweden in 1987.
Queen Beatrix (wearing the Mellerio Ruby Tiara) was joined by the Prince of Orange, Princess Máxima (wearing the Antique Pearl Tiara) and Professor Pieter van Vollenhoven as she hosted a State Banquet for King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia of Sweden (wearing the Leuchtenberg Sapphire Tiara and Parure) at the Noordeinde Palace in The Hague on the first evening of their State Visit to The Netherlands.
The following evening, King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia (in Queen Sofia’s Nine Prong Tiara and the Swedish Processional Necklace) hosted a Gala Concert at the De Witte Societeit in The Hague for Queen Beatrix (wearing Queen Emma’s Diamond Tiara), the Prince of Orange, Princess Máxima (wearing the Ruby Peacock Tiara), Princess Margriet (in the Aquamarine Tiara) and Professor Pieter van Vollenhoven.
