Princess Sofia of Sweden has appeared in Vogue Scandinavia ahead of her 40th birthday and given a rare interview.
The princess, who will be celebrating her 40th birthday on 6 December, was photographed both at the Royal Palace in Stockholm with her husband and children and in her hometown, Älvdalen in Dalarna. During the interview, she shared several behind-the-scenes details about her royal life.
Sofia, who married Prince Carl Philip of Sweden in 2015, carries out royal engagements regularly.
She supports a number of different causes, including Sophiahemmet- a private hospital, Project Playground- an organisation that works to provide opportunities for children via physical activity, and the Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia’s Foundation- the couple’s foundation that focuses on issues related to internet safety for young people and educating the public on dyslexia.
Although, she deals with many difficult topics, Princess Sofia shared her dedication to remaining positive. She said ”In a world that can feel quite dark I know a lot of amazing things are happening. I can completely understand that sometimes it doesn’t feel like the world is going forward, but it does.”
The milestone birthday will look quite different this year, though. In early September, Sofia and Carl Philip announced that they are expecting their fourth child in February 2025. In the interview, Sofia said of her celebrations that ”I’m going to be quite heavily pregnant. So, I think a bigger birthday party will wait a little bit. So probably just with my closest friends and family. I would not change where I am at all. I’m in a very happy place in life.”
