Veteran royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams said the errors “gives the impression of being out of touch”.

He told the Daily Express: “In recent years the Palace has coped with the advent of social media as a highly significant way of getting its message across, especially to a contemporary audience. The way the monarch’s Christmas Message has been handled is an example of this. However it is obviously essential that every major institution has an up to date website.

“It is therefore quite extraordinary that the biographies of the Sussexes are so out of date and, despite those of other members of the royal family being quite recently updated, seem in a time warp.

“They are, apparently ‘balancing their time between the United Kingdom and North America’. Also ‘continuing to honour their duty to the King, the Commonwealth and their patronages’. Anyone reading this would think that Meghan was still patron of the National Theatre and the Association of Commonweath Universities and that they were till resident at Frogmore Cottage.

“That which is out of date also gives the impression of being out of touch. Their biographies really should either be updated, or alternatively exist in name only. There is no way that these reflect current events and this obviously reflects on the website as a whole.”
