Prince Harry is gearing up to get the 2025 Invictus Games underway next month, but will Meghan Markle join him in Canada?
The Invictus Games, which were founded by the Duke of Sussex in 2014, are set to take place in British Columbia from February 8-16.
Although it is solely Harry’s project, Meghan, 43, has been a major encouragement of her husband and the Games since 2017 – the same year the pair got engaged.
Last February, Meghan joined Harry for the one year to go event at the top of Whistler Blackcomb. The Duchess of Sussex also joined her husband to celebrate the Invictus Games’ 10th anniversary in Nigeria last year.
With her appearance at many events alongside Harry over the years, should Meghan attend the latest Games next month?
One Invictus Games event that Meghan did not attend was the 10th anniversary event in London last May. The Duchess has not returned to UK soil since 2022, with security concerns previously cited as the main reason for her no-show in Harry’s home country.
Meghan has previously expressed her love of the Invictus Games, speaking about the athlethes during the second day of the their trip to Colombia last year.
She could be hearing saying the athletes were “all so incredible to watch”. Joining his wife in praising the annual project, Harry added: “It’s amazing to see how many people can come together to form one team.”
One PR expert previously shared whether he believed Meghan should attend the 2025 Games.
GoUp’s Edward Coram-James told Express.co.uk: “Meghan attending could be a statement of unity – or a distraction.
“The Sussex brand is damaged, no doubt about it. So, when they appear together, they bring baggage. Meghan attending could overshadow what the Games are about – veterans, not royal drama.”
In addition, he added that – by Meghan not attending – it could lead to further speculation about the couple.
The PR expert added: “On the flip side, if Meghan doesn’t attend, people will inevitably speculate – “Are they growing apart? Are the Sussexes in trouble?”
“She’s in a damned-if-she-does, damned-if-she-doesn’t situation.”
