Security scare at Windsor Castle after suspected break in

There was a security scare at Windsor Castle over the weekend after a man was arrested and taken into custody.

The man in his 30s was arrested on suspicion of breaking into the grounds of the Berkshire castle.

He was further arrested in suspicion of being in possession of Class A drugs – a controlled substance.

The man, who has not been named, was transferred to Thames Valley Police who held him in custody.

He has since been bailed, with police investigations ongoing.

Windsor Castle is a protected site as designated under the Serious Crime and Police Act 2005.

This means it is a criminal offence to trespass at Windsor Castle.

It is understood that no members of The Royal Family were in residence at the time, with the King spending the weekend at Sandringham in Norfolk.
