Royal Jewels on Auction in Paris

There are many striking antique Jewels coming up for Auction this month, with a Cabochon Sapphire Pendant and Sapphire and Gold Sautoir from Queen Olga of Greece and a Four-Row Pearl Necklace belonging to her granddaughter, Princess Eugenie of Greece, on Auction by the Beaussant Lefèvre Auction House at the Hôtel Drouot in Paris today!

Four-Row Pearl Necklace

Estimate: 8000 – 12000 EUR

From the collection of the late Princess Eugenie of Greece

A Four-Row Pearl Necklace of fine falling pearls, the barrel-shaped 850 thousandths platinum gold clasp entirely set with old-cut round diamonds.

The Four-Row Pearl Necklace was notably worn by Princess Eugenie with the Chaumet Radziwiłł Tiara when she married Prince Dominik Radziwiłł in 1938 and on numerous occasions with her Diamond Tiara, like Wedding Ball of Queen Elizabeth II and her first cousin, Prince Philip of Greece and Denmark, in 1947, and King Paul’s 60th Birthday Banquet at the Royal Palace of Athens in 1961.

Cabochon Sapphire Pendant

Estimate: 3000 – 4000 EUR

Belonged to Queen Olga of Greece

A Cabochon Sapphire Pendant in 585 thousandths gold and 800 thousandths silver decorated in the center with an oval-shaped cabochon Sapphire in a setting like the bail of rose-cut diamonds. Russian work, circa 1900.

The mother of HRH Prince George of Greece and Denmark was born Olga Romanova, Grand Duchess of Russia (1851-1926).

Sapphire and Gold Sautoir

Estimate: 4000 – 6000 EUR

Belonged to Queen Olga of Greece

A Sapphire and Gold Sautoir in 585 thousandths yellow gold necklace, the oval-shaped links decorated with twenty-four oval cabochon-shaped sapphires in bezel setting. Russian work, circa 1900.

The mother of HRH Prince George of Greece and Denmark was born Olga Romanova, Grand Duchess of Russia (1851-1926).

After her death in 1989, her jewels were inherited by Princess Eugenie’s three children, including Princess Tatiana Radziwiłł and the 3rd Duke of Castel Duino, and in 1999, the several jewels, including the Cartier Olive Wreath TiaraDiamond Star Tiara, Cartier Pearl and Diamond Bandeau, and Art Deco Diamond Earrings were auctioned off at the Beaussant Lefèvre Auction House, while the the Castel Duino Sapphire Parure and Queen Olga’s Pearl Brooch were auctioned at Sothebys in 2010. Given these jewels are being sold at Beaussant Lefèvre again, it is likely that Princess Tatiana Radziwiłł is the seller.
