The Duke of Brabant, son of King Albert II and Queen Paola of Belgium, married Jonkvrouw Mathilde d’Udekem d’Acoz, daughter of the newly ennobled Count Patrick d’Udekem d’Acoz and the Polish Countess Anna Maria Komorowska, in a Civil Ceremony at the Town Hall of Brussels, which was conducted in French, Dutch and German before the newlywed couple appeared on the Balcony of the Town Hall.
Afterwards, the Duke of Brabant and Mathilde d’Udekem d’Acoz got married in a Roman Catholic Ceremony at the Cathedral of Saint Michael and Saint Gudula in Brussels.
Following their return to to the Royal Palace of Brussels, the Duke and Duchess of Brabant appeared on the Balcony, before a Luncheon in the Salle du Trône and an evening Reception at the Château de Laeken.
The Duke of Brabant wore the uniform of a colonel in the Belgian Air Force with the sash and star of the Order of Leopold. The new Princess Mathilde wore an Édouard Vermeulen coat-gown with Queen Paola’s heirloom veil, Queen Elisabeth’s Diamond Bandeau, and a pair of pearl and diamond earrings, a gift from King Albert and Queen Paola.
