Royal Guests at the Wedding Gala of the Duke of Braganza

Representatives from more than twenty Royal Houses joined the Duke of Braganza, pretender of the Portuguese Throne, and his aristocratic bride for a spectacular Variety Show and Gala Dinner at Queluz Palace, on this day in 1995, 30 years ago, on the eve of their Religious Wedding Ceremony.

The Gala Evening began with a vibrant Variety Show in the gardens of Queluz Palace, highlighted by a performance from the Portuguese School of Equestrian Art. This was followed by a series of traditional Timorese dances, celebrating themes of marriage and motherhood. The festivities continued with a concert featuring several student music ensembles and concluded with a dinner served in the Palace’s Throne Room and Music Room.

The future Duchess of Braganza wore an antique naturalistic-inspired suite comprising a long pair of earrings, a corsage brooch, a set of hair pins and a necklace turned into hair ornament.
