Royal fans have been sent into a frenzy this afternoon after new portraits drawn by Princess Kate and her three children were released by Kensington Palace.

On Prince William and Princess Kate’s official social media accounts, portraits drawn by Kate, 42, and her three children Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, nine, and Prince Louis, six, were shared to highlight how drawing portraits with children can help them to connect with parents.

While it was confirmed which of the royal children drew which portrait, it was not confirmed who the portraits were supposed to depict, leaving royal fans guessing on social media.

Just hours after the portraits were released on Monday, fans were convinced they had worked out who each of the pictures were meant to be of.

So far, royal fans are convinced George’s portrait – the one of a lady sat in a chair – is supposed to be his mum Princess Kate. One fan wrote on X: “Prince George’s portrait of his mum, The Princess of Wales, is amazing.”

Another said: “Prince George’s portrait of The Princess of Wales is incredible.”

Fans are also convinced that Princess Kate’s more sophisticated sketch is of her youngest son Louis, with one fan writing on X: “Catherine’s portrait of Louis is excellent.”

While fans are certain they have worked out who Kate and George’s portraits are of, there seems to be some debate over who Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis have drawn, with the younger siblings having used bright colours in their artwork.

Although many think all three of the children have drawn Princess Kate, some fans believe Louis – who drew a picture of a woman with red pen – and Charlotte – who used various colours in her artwork – have drawn another relative instead.

On X, one fan shared a picture of Prince Louis’ portrait and wrote: “My thinking is this is by Prince Louis and is a portrait of his aunt, Pippa Matthews? She has a birthmark above her lip similar to the portrait.”

Another fan then said: “That would make this one by Princess Charlotte.

“The collar of the shirt is the same as the woman in Prince Louis’s drawing. But different neckline than Prince George’s drawing. So, I propose this could be Pippa as well.”

Meanwhile, other fans remain adamant all three of the children had drawn their mum Princess Kate. One fan wrote: “The first three are of their mother The Princess of Wales. The last one drawn by The PoW herself is Prince Louis.”

The princess is believed to have shared the portraits to highlight The Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood, Kate’s own project which focuses on the social and emotional skills which start to develop in early childhood.
