They are all part of King Charles’s vision for a slimmed-down monarchy – and some of its hardest workers.

OFFICIAL ENGAGEMENTS LAST YEAR: 94.
MOST RECENT: As patron of Friends Of St Paul’s Cathedral, Birgitte attended Evensong service to give thanks for the Coronation on May 7.


THE Danish-born Duchess has 60 patronages including the Lawn Tennis Association, Spina Bifida charity Shine UK and Scottish Opera.
After leaving school in the late Sixties she enrolled in a language school in Cambridge – where she met young student Prince Richard.
In 1974 the couple entered royal life when Richard’s father died and left him the Dukedom.

MOST RECENT: Holocaust Memorial Day Trust Tea Party in Highgate, North London, on May 4.
BEFORE becoming a full-time working royal, the duke was an accomplished architect and he still has a fervent interest in design and conservation.
He may continue to step in for the King as he did for his late cousin, Queen Elizabeth.
He represented Queen Elizabeth at events including the inauguration of Pope Francis at the Vatican in 2013 and the funeral of King Tupou V of Tonga a year earlier.

OFFICIAL ENGAGEMENTS: 181.
MOST RECENT: The King hosted an audience with Canadian indigenous leaders on May 4 at Buckingham Palace.
CHARLES is the oldest monarch ever to ascend to the British throne – but he has certainly put in the hard graft.
In May last year the then Prince of Wales filled in for his ailing mother Queen Elizabeth to open Parliament on her behalf.
Since his accession, he is said to be planning a shake-up of royal patronages as he and the new Queen see their workload increase.

OFFICIAL ENGAGEMENTS: 102.
MOST RECENT: Opening the new Royal Osteo- porosis Society offices in Bath on January 25 and visiting local businesses afterwards.
THE Queen is passionate about her domestic abuse charities and helping women. She is patron of the SafeLives charity, which helps victims, and last year she held a reception at Buckingham Palace for domestic abuse charities.
She is also passionately interested in animal welfare, and paid tribute to her two rescue dogs, Jack Russell terriers Bluebell and Beth, with subtle embroidery on her Coronation gown.

MOST RECENT: Meeting the Minister for Europe and North America Leo Docherty on May 3.
IN 2019, Sophie joined Angelina Jolie in campaigning against sexual violence against women in war zones with the charity Preventing Sexual Violence in Conflict Initiative.
In 2021, Princess Alexandra entrusted Sophie with her patronage for The Royal Guide Dogs for the Blind Association, then last year she inherited Prince Philip’s role as Colonel-in-Chief of the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers.

OFFICIAL ENGAGEMENTS: 143.
MOST RECENT: Visiting US and Canada from April 22 to 24 to meet business leaders and the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Foundation.
PRINCE EDWARD has been heavily involved in the Duke of Edinburgh Awards and will continue to head the youth scheme.
He has been trustee of the awards – set up in 1956 by his late father Prince Philip – since 1988, two years after achieving his own DofE Gold Medal.
Edward was given the non-hereditary title of Duke of Edinburgh by the King earlier this year.

OFFICIAL ENGAGEMENTS: 78.
MOST RECENT: A concert to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Royal Choral Society at the Royal Albert Hall on May 7.
THE Duke of Kent is the longest-serving senior royal – and the only living royal to have had an official role in Queen Elizabeth’s Coronation in 1953.
He has lived mostly apart from his wife Katharine Worsley – who gave up her title of Duchess of Kent in 1994 and worked as a music teacher in Hull.
After the duke’s 2013 stroke, they moved back in together at Wren House in Kensington Palace.

OFFICIAL ENGAGEMENTS WITH ANNE: 65.
MOST RECENT: A Big Lunch Street Party in Swindon on Sunday.
ALTHOUGH not officially a working royal, Sir Tim has repeatedly accompanied Princess Anne on official visits but he does not represent the Royal Family on his own.
He met Princess Anne as her marriage to Mark Phillips was breaking down and they married in Scotland in 1992. On marriage, he did not receive a royal peerage but in 2011 he was made a Knight Commander of the Royal Victorian Order.

OFFICIAL ENGAGEMENTS: 214.
MOST RECENT: Anne met members of the Household Cavalry on May 5 as they prepared for the Coronation. On Sunday she attended a Big Lunch Street Party in Swindon.
OFTEN named the hardest-working royal, Anne rode alongside 5,000 Armed Forces personnel at the Coronation.
She represents more than 300 charities and organisations including the Carers’ Trust, Riding For The Disabled and the British Olympic Association.
Since her 18th birthday, she has carried out an estimated 20,000 official engagements.

OFFICIAL ENGAGEMENTS: 126.
MOST RECENT: Meeting New Zealand Prime Minister Chris Hipkins at Windsor Castle on May 2.
AS the King’s “liege man”, William can expect to step up in supporting his father in royal duties.
The Prince of Wales’s official role in the royal household is to “support His Majesty the King as the focal point for national pride, unity and allegiance” according to the Royal Family’s website.
This may include representing the King at state occasions and joining His Majesty for state dinners.
Charles has hinted he wishes his sons will eventually take over his youth charity, The Prince’s Trust.

OFFICIAL ENGAGEMENTS: 90.
MOST RECENT: An early years meeting with Yale Professor Marc Brackett that was held at Windsor Castle on April 19.
SHE has already proved her commitment to the new role with a visit to Wales before the Coronation.
And the Princess of Wales already had a well- established niche in her charity work, with a passion for mental health and early years education.
Kate has launched an annual survey on education and it seems likely she will carry on the initiative. She is famously wild about sport – last year taking over Prince Harry’s Rugby Union patronage.

OFFICIAL ENGAGEMENTS: 40.
MOST RECENT: The Princess of Wales’s carol concert in Westminster Abbey on December 15.
BELOVED by the other royals, Princess Alexandra was an immediate hit on her first official duties. On a 1954 tour of Canada with her mother Princess Marina, Canadians tried to emulate her hairstyle.


Five years later on her first solo tour in Australia she was dubbed the “Duchess of Australia”.
Humble Alexandra trained as a nurse at Great Ormond Street Hospital. Now she is happy to let the younger royals enjoy the limelight.
THE JOBS WORTH A REGAL FORTUNE
BUCKINGHAM Palace stopped releasing information about the specific payments to individual royals in 2010.
But working family members do get payments from public money, private funds derived from royal hereditary estates, or both.
A study calculated how much each royal has received during their working life, below, based on the last reported figures and adjusted for inflation.
A palace spokesman declined to comment, adding that the detailed “private financial arrangements” of royals should “remain private, as they do for any other individual”.
