The Royal Family have been sent a “warning shot” by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in the Duchess’ new Netflix series, according to a royal insider.
Meghan, 43, was seen correcting Mindy Kaling in the second episode of her series, With Love, Meghan earlier this week. The actress, who starred in The Office, was seen referring to her friend as Meghan Markle – who quickly corrected her that she is now Meghan Sussex.
Also speaking about her surname, Meghan also told PEOPLE – which is her only interview surrounding her new series – that the name Sussex now held greater significance since becoming a mum. Referring to her husband and their two children – Archie, five, and Lilibet, three – Meghan said: “I love that that is something that Archie, Lili, H and I all have together. It means a lot to me.”
Speaking to The Mail, a royal insider has said that Meghan’s emphasis on the Sussex name was a warning to the Royal Family.
The insider claimed that she was making a very public point about how much the Sussex name means to her and, by implication, to Prince Harry.
The source added that stripping the couple of their Sussex title could make way for further tell-all memoirs and more explosive televised interviews.
As well as Prince Harry’s memoir, which was released back in January 2023, the couple appeared in a bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey back in 2021.
Shortly after the release of her show on March 4, Meghan took to Instagram to thank the viewers for getting the show into Netflix’s Top 10.
She wrote: “For more recipes, fun and reasons to ‘Mmmm’, check out the show – which in just 24 hours is already in the Top 10! Thank you to all of you around the world who are tuning in!”.
The message was posted alongside a heart emoji.
