Royal Family: Meghan Markle humiliated over ‘unattainable paradox’ after Netflix flop | Royal | News

Meghan Markle was blasted by a royal commentator for promoting a “relatable yet unattainable” lifestyle approach through her Netflix show, just days after it was revealed that it plummeted in the latest official rankings. The Duchess of Sussex released With Love, Meghan back in March, with the series receiving mostly scathing reviews by critics.

Netflix’s latest global rankings revealed that despite the show breaking into its Global Top 10 Shows list with 2.6 million views during its first week of release, it failed to keep momentum and only gathered just about another half of its views, 2.7 million, in the months after, for a total of 5.3 million views and ranking 383rd. For comparison, the most-watched show globally on Netflix was Adolescence with 145million views, while Squid Games’ seasons 2 and 3 gathered 117million views and 72million views respectively, completing the top 3.

Royal commentator Esther Krakue said on Sky News Australia: “Meghan wants us to believe she’s just like us, the everyday woman making muffins for her family. It’s this relatable yet unattainable paradox that ultimately makes With Love, Meghan fail. The show is too polished, too pristine, and too detached from reality. The reality is Meghan’s celebrity status doesn’t stem from genuine fame but rather from infamy.”
