Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been savaged by a royal commentator who claimed the “tide has turned” for the couple in Hollywood as increasingly more A-listers appear to distance themselves from them.

News.com.au columnist Daniela Elser noted how recently celebrities like Tom Cruise, Julia Roberts, and Benedict Cumberbatch joined the 15,000 people at Wimbledon and gave a standing ovation for the Princess of Wales during her second public appearance this year amid her cancer treatment.

She added that other celebrities who have been “closely aligned” with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex in the past have shown their support for the crown recently, including Gwyneth Paltrow, Idris Elba, David Beckham, and Kate Moss.

Ms Elser wrote: “Right as this has all been happening, the Californian outpost of the House of Windsor, manned by Prince Harry and Meghan the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, has been experiencing what outwardly appears to be something of a cooling relationship with Tinseltown. […] Hollywood, it turns out, and to borrow liberally from Somerset Maugham, just might be ‘a sunny place for changeable people’ with the Wimbledon scene capping off several months that have seen starhhhs(sic) showing their support for Team Crown.”

The royal commentator also pointed at a recent report by the Times, which cited a source claiming that “the tide has turned” for Harry and Meghan in the US as most people “don’t like the Sussexes or don’t care” and added: “Maybe the truth is that La La Land is ‘a sunny place for gutsy people’ – and people who have no intention of being left in the shade.”
