Prince Harry must “regret” talking about his past drug use in his memoir, Spare, as his US visa row intensifies, a royal expert has claimed.
The Duke of Sussex spoke about previously using recreational drugs like cocaine, marijuana and magic mushrooms in his book but he found himself in hot water after questions were asked about whether he had declared that on his visa application when he relocated to the US.
A Washington DC-based think tank called The Heritage Foundation wants details of Harry’s immigration records to be made public and submitted freedom of information requests to the US Department of Homeland Security to release them.
Former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond told OK!: “Harry must regret having been so frank about drugs in his book. It really wasn’t a necessary part of the narrative although I understand that he was trying to explain his mental health issues. But admissions like that can have consequences and, right now, he must be feeling the heat.
“In the end, though, I can’t imagine that the USA would actually throw him out. Lawyers would find some way around it, I think. But it must be an unnecessary worry and embarrassment for Harry at the moment.”
