Meghan Markle’s relationship with Princess Kate will undoubtedly come under the spotlight if she choses to publish her memoirs, according to a royal author.

The two royal wives were generally pitted against each other and known not to be very close, thanks to a row over bridesmaids dresses before Meghan’s wedding in 2018, although Kate later sent over flowers and an apology.

However some believe Meghan’s alleged “bitterness” towards Kate stems from feeling she should have gotten “equal billing” with the future Queen.

Phil Dampier told The Sun: “Everyone will be fascinated to hear Meghan’s take on her relationship with Kate, whether she was hostile or welcomed her from the start.

“She probably thought she should have got equal billing and didn’t seem to appreciate from the start that she and Harry were the B team, not on the same level as William and Kate. She will probably talk about comparisons that were made in the press between them and will come across as bitter.”

Speaking about the chances of a potential reconciliation between the Waleses and the Sussexes Mr Dampier said: “It really would be the last straw and I doubt William and Kate would ever talk to Harry again.

“I doubt she will directly criticise the late Queen as she knows how unpopular that will be. But she could reveal private conversations and that would be very troubling for the King, the Queen and the Prince and Princess of Wales.”

Prince Harry published his autobiography Spare in January, with the fallout from his revelations leading to King Charles to ask him and Meghan to vacate their UK property, Frogmore Cottage.
