A ROYAL Christmas menu featuring a note a young Harry scrawled to his brother is up for sale online for £7,000.
Harry, nine, wrote in pencil: “William, what are you talking about? Sign back.”
It suggests the pair were passing messages at the December 25, 1993 meal at Sandringham also attended by mum Diana and dad Charles.
The brothers were extremely close growing up — but are now not on speaking terms.
Royal biographer Ingrid Seward said: “This is very sweet and shows that the princes were having fun at a rather stuffy evening meal.
“But I look at it with a tinge of sadness as it shows that they were close and were allies, in a real contrast to their current relationship.”
The cold buffet menu is written in French and features the Queen’s ER cypher in gold. It comes from the collection of a royal chef.
Auction house Paul Fraser Collectibles calls the item a “unique Prince Harry signed menu”.
Boss Paul Fraser said: “It’s great to see William and Harry were on good terms that day. And royal signatures are so rare — as it’s against royal protocol to sign autographs.”
Under the heading Le Buffet Froid, or cold buffet, the menu lists filet of beef, foie gras, beef tongue, York ham and smoked turkey.
Also on offer was salmon mousse, Parma ham and melon, salads, quails’ eggs and aubergine cake for dessert.
Earlier that day, Diana, right, led a procession of royals to a service at St Mary Magdalene Church on the Norfolk estate.
The group included William, then 11, the Queen, and Princes Philip, Charles and Edward. On its website the auction house says: “This item gives a stunning insight into the life of the Royal Family in 1993 and is the only known example of Harry’s handwriting to come up for sale.”
A memorabilia expert added: “This is absolutely genuine and a very interesting historical item that illustrates how close William and Harry were growing up.”
Prince Harry’s representatives were contacted for comment last night.
