Royal Caledonian Ball, 1959


The Queen Mother danced Scottish Reels as she attended the spectacular Royal Caledonian Ball at Grosvenor House in London on this day in 1959, 65 years ago, in aid of Scottish Charities.

The Queen Mother wore the Greville Tiara and the Greville Emerald Necklace with the Teck Flower Brooch.

Among the bejewelled Noble Ladies, you can spot Baroness Fermoy (wearing her Diamond Tiara), who was the lady-in-waiting to the Queen Mother and the grandmother of the later Diana, Princess of Wales.
