King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden’s Golden Jubilee celebrations will take place later this month, and we know which royals will join in the festivities.

The King will be joined by his wife, Queen Silvia, and their children and spouses: Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel, Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia and Princess Madeleine and Chris O’Neill. His sisters, Princess Margaretha, Princess Desiree, Princess Birgitta and Princess Christina, are expected. Nieces, nephews and brother-in-law will also be expected at the celebrations.

Don’t be surprised to see his grandchildren (Princess Estelle, Prince Oscar, Prince Alexander, Prince Gabriel, Prince Julian, Princess Leonore, Prince Nicolas and Princess Adrienne) also make appearances. However, their attendance is usually not confirmed ahead of time.

Queen Margrethe, Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary of Denmark will attend, as will Margrethe’s sister, Queen Anne-Marie of Greece. Margrethe and Anne-Marie are first cousins with the King. Their sister, Princess Benedikte, will remain in Denmark to act as Head of State.

King Harald, Queen Sonja, Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway will travel to Sweden to partake in the festivities on the 14th and 15th of September.

The Scandinavian monarchies are very close. Not only are they closely related, they are good friends as well. So it’s no surprise they are well represented at the special celebration.

Other European royal families will not be in attendance.

Finland’s President Sauli Niinistö and First Lady Jenni Haukio and Iceland’s President Guðni Th. Jóhannesson and First Lady Eliza Reid will also attend.
