Representationsmiddag at the Royal Palace of Stockholm

Crown Princess Victoria, Prince Daniel, and Prince Carl Philip joined King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia as they held the annual Representationsmiddag (Representatives Dinner) at the Royal Palace of Stockholm on the evening of March 19th, held for the first time since 2022.

After posing for photographers, King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia, along with Crown Princess VictoriaPrince DanielPrince Carl Philip, Princess Christina and Tord Magnuson, greeted the Guests in the White Sea Room of the Royal Palace of Stockholm, before the Official Dinner served in Karl XI’s Gallery.

The guests include representatives from the diplomatic corps, parliament, government, government, science, sports, business, culture and people that the Royal Family met when traveling.

The porcelain for tonight’s dinner was a gift from the Riksdag and government to the King on his 50th birthday in 1996. The service is from Hackman-Rörstrand Gustafsberg and designed by Karin Björquist.

The glassware is from Kosta, designed by Sigurd Persson. The glasses were given to the King and Queen in 1976 as a wedding gift from the Riksdag and government.

The table silver belongs to the Brazilian service. The service’s name comes from the fact that it previously belonged to the Brazilian imperial family. After the death of Empress Amalia in 1873, it was inherited by her sister, Dowager Queen Josefina of Sweden.

The tablecloth “Blanka randen” was woven in 1990 in Switzerland at the Scheitling & Borner weaving mill. The pattern consists of a beautiful leaf ornament surrounding the King and Queen’s monogram. Around the leaf ornament are two shiny stripes woven in, hence the name “Blanka randen” for the Fatburen.

King Carl XVI Gustav wore White Tie with the Sash and Star of the Order of the Seraphim and the Neck Badge of the Order of the Polar Star. Queen Silvia wore Napoleonic Amethyst Tiara and Parure, the Sash and Star of the Order of the Seraphim, and King Carl Gustaf’s Portrait Brooch.
