Queen Sonja of Norway taken to hospital by air ambulance after becoming unwell on holiday

Queen Sonja of Norway has been rushed to hospital from her Easter holiday. The Norwegian royal court said she was taken there on Easter Monday for shortness of breath.

The court said she ”was transported by air ambulance from the Prince’s Cabin in Sikkilsdalen, where the King and Queen spent the Easter holiday,” the brief statement read. She is now under observation at the Rikshospitalet.

Queen Sonja, who is 87, was admitted to the hospital earlier this year for atrial fibrillation during a ski trip and received a pacemaker in mid-January.

After a short rest period, she returned to royal duties and most recently was seen at the Icelandic State Visit earlier in April.
