Queen Sofia has been discharged from hospital after treatment for an infeciton.

The queen, 85, left the Ruber International Clinic in Madrid on the afternoon of April 13th 2024 after four days of treatment.

She smiled and waved to reporters and photographers and thanked them for their interest before returning to her home at the Zarzuela Palace in Madrid.

Queen Sofia was admitted to the hospital with a urinary infection. As it confirmed her treatment, the Spanish Royal Household said that Sofia was already making good and quick progress in her recovery.

King Felipe was seen visiting his mother twice during her stay with his wife, Queen Letizia, also joining him on one occasion. Queen Sofia’s elder daughter, Infanta Elena, was also photographed making a visit to the hospital.

Queen Sofia is expected to take some time to recuperate at home.
