Queen Silvia of Sweden was surrounded by all her grandchildren at a special Christmas event at the Royal Palace.

The Queen, who turns 80 on 23rd December, was joined by Princess Estelle (11), Prince Oscar (7), Prince Alexander (7), Prince Gabriel (6), Prince Julian (2), Princess Leonore (9), Prince Nicolas (8), and Princess Adrienne (5) to welcome the Christmas trees to the palace.

The trees were presented to the Queen and her grandchildren by students at the Swedish University of Agriculture (SLU) in Umeå.

The grandchildren were seen decorating the trees with the older girls, Estelle and Leonore, helping out their younger siblings and cousins.

Prince Oscar and Prince Alexander were seen looking at the smaller trees, while Estelle placed an angel on the top of the tree. Princess Leonore also helped young Julian pick out ornaments and place them on the tree.

Little Julian stole the show, however, with his thumbs up to the media when he was finished decorating the tree.

It was a particularly special day for Queen Silvia as three of her grandchildren, Leonore, Nicolas and Adrienne, just arrived in Sweden from the United States, where the family resides in Florida. It had been six months since she last had all of her grandchildren together.

It is a tradition, dating back to the 1960s, each year that a member of the Swedish Royal Family accepts that year’s Christmas trees for the Royal Palace from SLU.
