Happy Birthday to Queen Rania of Jordan, who turns 54 today! The accomplished Palestinian who married a Jordanian Prince and unexpectedly became the influential Queen of the Middle Eastern Monarch, Queen Rania once loaned Queen Alia’s Cartier Tiara from her sister-in-law, but she has also worn this striking Boucheron Emerald Tiara!

Created by Solange Azagury Partridge for Boucheron in 2003, the Boucheron Emerald Ivy Tiara is composed of emeralds set in black gold:
The Tiara was made in 2003 under the design of the former Creative Director of Boucheron, Solange Azagury-Partridge. The name of the piece means “pastoral princess” and is inspired by the beauty of nature, art and a high jewelry piece that was found in Boucheron archives (a necklace from the Boucheron archive that dates from 1890).
The design of the Princess line refers to Shakespeare’s “Midsummer night dreams”. The leaves represent those of the ivy, symbol of faith and fidelity. This plant is always green and the leaves don’t fall. It also sticks to the walls by its roots and covers all buildings. This is why it is often represented as symbolic of fidelity and everlasting love, in a romantic way.
All emeralds have been chosen one by one in order to get the same color all over. Bigger emeralds (like dew drops) are attached to the tiara by a very thin blade of precious metal, slightly trembling, in the typical fashion of the beginning of the 20th Century.
In this meticulously crafted set, 2 different sizes of leaves were made to give an effect of lightness. Each leaf has been recut by hand (inside) to give more definition to the inside of the leaf. The leaves and emeralds in bezel settings are mounted on tremblers – an old technique that allows each leaf to move independently from the others. This ingenious mounting makes the jewelry seem incredibly light.
That year, the Boucheron Emerald Ivy Tiara was borrowed by Queen Rania of Jordan for a spectacular State Banquet hosted by the Swedish King and Queen at the Royal Palace in Stockholm in 2003.
Queen Rania also wore the Boucheron Emerald Ivy Tiara for a Portrait that came out in Vanity Fair in 2003.
In 2017, Dita Von Teese wore the Boucheron Emerald Ivy Tiara for an event celebrating the Boucheron & C Magazine March 2007 Issue Fashion Portfolio at the Chateau Marmont in West Hollywood.
