Queen Mathilde at the Queen Elisabeth Piano Competition

King Philippe and the Duchess of Brabant have joined Queen Mathilde of Belgium for two out of the three finale Concerts for the Queen Elisabeth Piano Competition at BOZAR, the Centre for Fine Arts in Brussels, this week.

Every year, Queen Mathilde of Belgium is heavily involved with the various events for the Queen Elisabeth Competition, an international competition for career-starting musicians, classical violinists, pianists, singers and cellists, held in Brussels, named after Queen Elisabeth of Belgium. Since its foundation in 1937, it is considered one of the most challenging and prestigious competitions for instrumentalists.

Queen Mathilde (wearing her Diamond Earrings) was joined by King Philippe for the first finale concert at the Centre for Fine Arts in Brussels, also known as BOZAR in French or PSK in Dutch.

The next evening, the Duchess of Brabant joined Queen Mathilde for the Concert as well as her sister, Countess Hélène d’Udekem and niece Baroness Cordélia Janssen.

Last night, Queen Mathilde (in her Diamond Fringe Earrings) attended the Concert by herself, with two more concerts before the Award Ceremony at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel in Argenteuil, and two further Concerts at BOZAR.
