Queen Mary teams up with Brigitte Macron to tackle bullying in Paris

Queen Mary of Denmark has kept a busy schedule throughout the State Visit to France, with joint engagements with King Frederik and solo outings. In a school visit with Brigitte Macron, the Danish queen once again tackled the issue of bullying.

Queen Mary visited Ecole Maternelle Dussoubs to meet with primary school children. The school has joined an anti-bullying programme, Free of Bullying, that was set up by Queen Mary’s Foundation.

Known in France as Vivre Ensemble, the programme has been implemented in nearly twenty schools across Paris.

The students read from programme materials and each received one of the programme’s purple teddy bears, known as the Buddy Bear.

The foundation created the Free of Bullying programme in 2007 in Denmark. Local versions have been launched in several countries: Greenland first offered it 2010, Iceland in 2014, the Faroe Islands in 2014, Romania in 2020, and France first signing up in 2022.

The Danish State Visit to France has been busy, with a State Dinner at the Élysée Palace, a visit to Notre-Dame Cathedral, a demonstration of tapestry cutting at the Manufacture des Gobelins, and visits to several historic sites. The King and Queen of Denmark also helped open an economic forum, the France-Denmark: A European Partnership for a Resilient Future.
