Queen Mary has proven to be good luck for Danish athletes in Paris as another team takes a silver medal.
Queen Mary of Denmark was on hand at the Palace of Versailles to congratulate the Danish dressage team on their silver medal in the Grand Prix event on Saturday, 3 August.
Team members Daniel Bachmann Andersen, Nanna Skodborg Merrald and Cathrine Laudrup-Dufour came in second place with a score of 235.669. Germany took their third straight gold medal in the event with a score of 235.790 and Great Britain took the bronze medal with 232.492.
The Danish Queen has supported the Danish dressage team throughout the Paris Olympics. She attended the opening round of the dressage team event on Wednesday with friend and designer Helle Trolle. She is good friends with Laudrup-Dufour and chatted with her on Wednesday after her ride.
Queen Mary chose to dress diplomatically on Saturday white a casual white sundress and a red linen blazer. She watched the event with a tan fedora and black sunglasses to keep the sun off of her face while she happily waved a Danish flag.
