That’s amore! King Charles and Queen Camilla add romantic touch to start of State Visit to Italy

The King and Queen might be getting ready for a crucial State Visit but they only had love on their minds as they touched down in Italy.

King Charles and Queen Camilla arrived in Rome just days before they celebrate twenty years of marriage. And before any of the formalities began, the couple took a stroll in the late evening sunshine to pose for special portraits marking their anniversary.

And Buckingham Palace shared some behind the scenes footage of the photos being taken with a very appropriate soundtrack. The royal lovebirds were seen sharing smiles and jokes as ‘That’s Amore’ played in their social media background.

They chose the famous version by Dean Martin as ‘their song’ for this special anniversary. ‘That’s Amore’ was released in 1953 and ended up being nominated for an Oscar. It also has another royal link – it was used in the 1954 film, Rear Window, which starred Grace Kelly in one of her final roles before her marriage to Prince Rainier III of Monaco.

King Charles and Queen Camilla being a three day State Visit to Italy on April 8 and will have meetings with the country’s President, Sergio Mattarella, as well as its Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni. The King will become the first British Monarch to address a joint parliamentary session of the Italian legislature.

There will also be a visit to the Colosseum during their time in the Eternal City.

The wedding portraits were taken by Chris Jackson and show Queen Camilla in all white and wearing a brooch created to resemble lily of the valley which originally belonged to Queen Elizabeth, The Queen Mother. Lily of the valley is a traditional bridal flower and symbolises married love and happiness. That’s Amore!
