Queen Letizia of Spain has channeled her ‘inner Kate’ by taking note of Princess Kate’s purple palette at Wimbledon and shining in a vibrant floral dress for a solo engagement in Barcelona.

The European royal, 51, wore a smart purple shirt dress as she chaired the annual meeting of the Cervantes Institute in Barcelona on July 23.

She joined the Mayor of Barcelona Jaume Collboni and director of the Cervantes Institute Luis Garcia Montero to attend the annual meeting of directors at the City Hall.

Queen Letizia wore a Carolina Herrera printed crepe dress in ivory and fuchsia, costing £828, along with a matching fuchsia satchel bag by the same designer.

Fans rushed to praise the Spanish royal: “Letizia just doing what she does best – looking effortlessly comfortable and stylish.”

Another royal fashion fan commented on her look: “Effortlessly stylish. She honestly is in a league of her own.”

One fan added: “Love a good printed summer shirt dress!”

Letizia’s make-up was typically glowy, while she accessorised with freshwater pearl-drop earrings.

The Cervantes Institute promotes Spanish culture and the learning of the language, and Letizia has been deeply involved with its mission statement for many years. With her husband King Felipe VI being the Institute’s honorary president, Letizia has always been deeply involved too.

The organisation, which was created in 1991 and is in its 32nd year, aims to promote Spanish culture and language throughout the world.

Sticking to her packed schedule, Queen Letizia is due to fly to Paris later this week for the opening of the Olympic Games 2024.
