Tonight’s performance was held to celebrate the NHS’s 75th anniversary and to recognise and thank front-line NHS workers, and education and arts providers.

Charles and Camilla were greeted by the Lord Lieutenant of Greater London Sir Kenneth Olisa and welcomed to the Royal Opera House by Sir Lloyd Dorfman, Chairman of the Royal Opera House and Alex Beard, Chief Executive of the Royal Opera House.

The royal pair met with members of the audience in the Crush Room before taking to their seats to watch the show.

The audience included NHS workers, teachers and school representatives from the ROH’s Create & Learn programmes and students from the Royal Ballet School, and the Royal Opera House’s Songs for Ukraine Chorus – all partners that the ROH has worked with.

Young people as well as students from arts organisations linked to Charles and Camilla were also invited.

The show – which launched the ballet cinema season – was broadcast as a live cinema stream, hosted by Darcey Bussell and Petroc Trelawny, in over 1,000 cinemas across the UK and internationally.

Once it was completed, the King and Queen met Kevin O’Hare, Director of The Royal Ballet, Carlos Acosta, Producer of Don Quixote, and other cast and creatives behind the curtain.

The King told the principal dancers that he “could not stop tapping his feet”.
