Queen Camilla has returned to public engagements with a visit to the University of Aberdeen where she met different campus groups.
Queen Camilla was named as Chancellor of the University of Aberdeen in 2013 and has returned several times.
On her latest trip, she met with staff, students, and community members in the Sir Duncan Rice Library.
The Queen spoke with the “Savy Students Club”, a student group that is helping students across campus learn to cook new and creative recipes that are healthy and financially accessible.
Her Majesty was able to chat with students who are taking part in the online PGDE primary education course, a programme that allows students the flexibility to earn their teaching qualification even if they are unable to visit campus.
Queen Camilla was also introduced to the Aberdeen Football Club Community Trust (AFCCT), a community organisation that works in schools across Aberdeenshire to help reduce social isolation and the impacts of child poverty through football.
The Queen was also able to reconnect with Professor Paul Mealor, a composer who created new pieces for the 2023 coronation at Westminster Abbey. Professor Mealor directed the university’s chapel choir as they performed his arrangement of Robert Burns’ “Ae Fond Kiss”.
Queen Camilla chose a fitting look for her visit, a light blue coat with green tartan lapels. She completed her look with a thistle-print scarf, a nod to the national flower of Scotland.
