Queen Camilla has joined events bringing people of all ages together through poetry.

Her Majesty returned briefly to London from Balmoral to support Poetry Together, the annual event that encourages old and young to join together to read poems.

Established by author and broadcaster, Gyles Brandreth, in 2019, Poetry Together sees people learn a poem by heart together before enjoying it along with cake and tea.

And to fully show her support for the event, The Queen brought a cake baked at Buckingham Palace to the event she attended at Fielding Primary School in London.

The honey and cream cake was presented by two other special guests, Alice in Wonderland and the Mad Hatter.

Over 800 schools and care homes have joined Poetry Together since its inception.

During her day in London, Her Majesty also visited the Royal Air Force Club where she unveiled a portrait of Secret Operations Executive, Noor-un-Nisa Inayat Khan, who was the first female wireless operator to be dropped into occupied France during World War Two to support the Resistance.
