Queen Camilla has continued to champion causes that are hugely important to her. This week, she visited a newly opened Sexual Assault Referral Centre in Exeter to meet staff and hear about the crucial work that they do.
Queen Camilla visited Exeter’s newly-built SARC. These centres provide medical, emotional, and practical support to people who have experienced sexual assault and violence.
Her Majesty was given a tour of the facility and was able to speak to several different staff members and volunteers to learn about the very important work that they do.
During the visit, The Queen shared, ”You do a brilliant job, and you shouldn’t go unrecognised.”
The Queen also met a sexual assault survivor privately to learn more about the support that they have received.
Queen Camilla saw the impact of one of her own initiatives first hand. Relaunched in 2024, Queen Camilla began the Wash Bag Project in 2013. The project provides wash bags that include essential toiletries to women in SARCs across the United Kingdom.
These wash bags are often a great comfort to sexual assault survivors, and the programme is continuing on with support from Boots and In Kind Direct.
