Princess of Wales shares spring video encouraging people to “make the most of it together” in nature

The Princess of Wales released a video about the healing power of nature and how spring “is a season of rebirth, of hope and new beginnings” to coincide with Mental Health Awareness Week.

The first of a series of quarterly videos, entitled ‘Mother Nature: Spring’ showcases beautiful landscape shots of the United Kingdom, including behind-the-scenes of the Prince and Princess of Wales’s visit to the Isle of Mull last month, as Catherine narrates about the importance of being in the natural world.

After a year spent out of the limelight undertaking preventative chemotherapy and recovering from major abdominal surgery, Catherine’s gradual return to public-facing duties has seen her focus more and more on nature and the natural world.

In the opening moments of the video, the future queen said that nature has been her sanctuary, and that, “The natural world’s capacity to inspire us, to nurture us and help us heal and grow is boundless and has been understood for generations.”

She continued: “It is through nature that we can fully understand the true interconnectedness of all things, the importance of balance and the importance of renewal and resilience. Connecting to nature helps us to experience a deeper sense of ourselves, the world around us, and each other.”

Catherine’s focus is also on introducing young people to the benefits of nature and reducing their screen time. “As we confront the challenges of an increasingly complex and digital world, the importance of the connection between humanity and nature takes on even more significance,” she wrote on social media.

Each season, she plans to release a new video as a “reminder and reflection of the beauty and complexity of the human experience” and a “tribute to the lessons we can learn from nature, helping us to foster our own growth, strengthen our bonds with the world around us and each other.”

As the video ends, Catherine said: “It is often from the smallest of seeds that the greatest change can happen, and in this ever-growing complex world, we need to hold on to what connects us all.

“Spring is here, so let’s make the most of it together.”
