Princess of Wales is proud mother in new portrait

The Prince and Princess of Wales have capped off a sparkling Trooping the Colour with a brand new family portrait.

As events for The King’s official birthday came to a close, William and Catherine expressed their thanks to the military who took part and to all those who came along to watch.

Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 10 and 7 year old Prince Louis had already starred in some of the stand out moments of a day of celebration.

The three rode to Trooping in a carriage with their mother, the Princess of Wales, before watching the spectacular parade from one of the buildings overlooking Horse Guards Parade.

They later enjoyed another ride back to Buckingham Palace in an Ascot Landau with both George and Louis giggling and putting their heads in their hands during the procession.

However, it was the balcony appearance that turned into the standout moment. The princes and princess stood with King Charles and Queen Camilla as they watched a flypast marking Trooping. And Prince Louis once more showed his love of the Buckingham Palace balcony, waving so enthusiastically that George had to stop him at one point.

It didn’t have much effect. Louis was determined to make the most of every moment and turned to sneak in another wave as the Princess of Wales guided him into the Palace again.

King Charles had also been joined by the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh and Princess Anne and her husband, Sir Tim Laurence, on the balcony. The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester and the Duke of Kent also appeared.
