The Princess of Asturias, who also holds the title of Princess of Girona, was joined by King Felipe VI, Queen Letizia, and Infanta Sofia for the 2024 Princess of Girona Foundation Awards Ceremony in Girona. The Princess of Girona Awards are given in the categories of Arts and Letters, Business, Scientific Research and the Social field, for young people who stand out for a brilliant, constant and determined career, which contributes value and with the clear will to induce changes in our society, through cooperation and effort.
King Felipe, Queen Letizia, and Infanta Sofia joined the Princess of Asturias and Girona for the Princess of Girona Foundation Awards Ceremony at the Costa Brava Conference Centre in Lloret de Mar.
The awards were presented to
the architect and social entrepreneur, Antonio Espinosa de los Monteros, in the CreaEmpresa category; the actress Victoria Luengo, in the Art category; the architect and coordinator of the Asertos desde Quatorze and Arquitectura Sin Fronteras programs, Daniel Millor Vela, in the Social category; and the evolutionary ecologist, plant biologist and geneticist, Moisés Expósito-Alonso, in the Research category. The International Princess of Girona Award, this year divided into the CreaEmpresa and Research categories, has awarded the co-founder and director of Global Programs of the socially focused company New Sun Road Guatemala, Susana Arrechea, and the chemist specializing in sustainable development and environmental impact assessment, Yarivith González, respectively.

In her Speech, the Princess of Asturias and Girona said:
The stories of Susanna, Antonio, Victoria, Moisés, Yarivith and Daniel have several things in common. They thought differently. They took risks. And now they are the references of my generation.
Earlier that day, the Princess of Asturias and Girona and Infanta Sofia met thirty young people in the Santa Clotilde Gardens of Lloret de Mar, before the meeting of the Foundation’s new Youth Advisory Board at the Hotel Meliá Lloret all ahead of the meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Princess of Girona Foundation.
The previous day, the Princess of Asturias and Girona and Infanta Sofia visited the workshop of one of the most internationally renowned Catalan sculptors, Jaume Plensa, in Sant Feliu de Llobregat in Barcelona before the King and Queen joined them for a meeting with prizewinners from previous editions, with whom they celebrated the Foundation’s 15 years of existence.
