A striking Sapphire and Diamond Necklace unknown origin, composed of a five sapphire and diamond pendants suspended from a series of sapphire and diamond swags. The exact origin of this piece is unknown but it may have been acquired when Princess Margaretha of Luxembourg married Prince Nikolaus of Liechtenstein in 1982.
Princess Margaretha notably wore the Sapphire and Diamond Necklace as a Tiara for a series of portraits at some point in the late 1980s.
A few years later, Princess Margaretha wore the Sapphire and Diamond Necklace for the Wedding Gala of Infanta Elena of Spain at the Palacio de Villamanrique de la Condesa in 1995.
Princess Margaretha also wore the Sapphire and Diamond Necklace a few years later for Grand Duke Henri’s Enthronement Gala in 2001.
More recently, the Sapphire and Diamond Necklace was worn by Princess Margaretha’s daughter, Princess Maria Annunciata of Liechtenstein, for the Wedding Ball of Prince Ludwig of Bavaria at Schloss Schleißheim in 2023. Let’s hope we see it worn again soon!
