Princess Madeleine of Sweden and her husband, Chris O’Neill, have attended a Nobel event at the Swedish Embassy in Washington D.C.

As the couple will be unable to attend the Nobel festivities in Stockholm in December, the royals (who reside in Florida) travelled to the American capital for an event with American Nobel laureates at the House of Sweden and the Swedish Ambassador to the United States, Urban Ahlin.

The event began with the annual “Nobel Prize Symposium” to recognise the laureates’ efforts. A gala dinner followed.

Madeleine and Chris spoke to some of the American laureates and heard speeches from 2023 Nobel Laureates Moungi G. Bawendi and Louise E. Brus (Chemistry), Katalin Karikó and Drew Weissman (Physiology or Medicine), and Claudia Goldin (Economics).

Regarding the event, Princess Madeleine wrote on Instagram, “Ahead of next month’s Nobel Prize festivities in Stockholm it was an honor for Chris and me to be invited to the Embassy in Washington yesterday evening to meet some of the US based Nobel Laureates and congratulate them on their remarkable achievements.

“Thank you for inviting us to this memorable evening, Ambassador Ahlin.”

While the event in America was not a tiara affair, the Nobel Prize festivities in Stockholm will be. It’s the event each year where the royals are guaranteed to dust off their finest jewels and tiaras to honour the winners of the Nobel Prizes.
