Today marks the Anniversary of the Death of Princess Lilian of Sweden, who died on this day in 2013! The Welsh Actress who waited 30 years to marry her Swedish Prince and became a beloved member of the Swedish Royal Family, Princess Lilian possessed a spectacular collection of jewels, which included this Turquoise Necklace!

Composed of ‘turquoise’ pendants set within rhinestones, Sarah Williams has discovered that the Necklace was created by Mimi di N, who created several similar designs. The ‘turquoise’  Earrings usually paired with the necklace were also faux pieces created by Ciner.

Princess Lilian wore the Turquoise Necklace with the Baden Fringe Tiara for a Lithuanian State Banquet at the Royal Palace of Stockholm in 1995.

A few years later, Princess Lilian notably wore the Turquoise Necklace and Earrings with her Laurel Wreath Tiara for a State Banquet in honour of South African President Nelson Mandela at the Royal Palace of Stockholm in 1999.

Princess Lilian also wore the Turquoise Necklace and Earrings for the Gala at Gripsholm Castle to celebrate the Silver Anniversary of King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia in 2001. 

After Princess Lilian’s death in 2013, the ‘Turquoise’ Necklace is not among the pieces mentioned in her will, but it was likely among the pieces distributed among the children of King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia. Personally, I’d love if it was worn by Princess Sofia, who could pair it with the Turquoise version of her Wedding Tiara!
