The Prince and Princess of Wales are reportedly preparing their young three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis for a colossal change.

The royal couple are said to be making the most of their family time before Prince William becomes King, and wanting to make the transition as smooth as possible for the sake of their children.

Royal author, Ingrid Seward, said: “Kate knows there is a looming, massive responsibility coming, but she can’t do anything about that, so she just needs to make sure that the family she’s bringing up are able to deal with it.”

Princess Kate has had a difficult year, being diagnosed with an undisclosed form of cancer in 2024. As reported in Hello! Magazine, the royal author added: “I think the illness has made her keen to prioritise her family even more, because they are the future. Obviously, she wants to support her husband and the monarchy, but she’s going to make sure that she does it in such a way that it doesn’t take her away from the family too much.”

After spending the festive holidays with King Charles and Queen Camilla in Norfolk, Princess Kate is also preparing her children to return to school after the Christmas break.

It is also set to be an important week for Kate, as she turns 43 on Thursday, and her birthday may carry deeper significance following the health battle she faced last year, in what was dubbed a “brutal” year by Prince William.

In a video message released last year by Kensington Palace, Princess Kate informed the public she was doing what she can to “stay cancer free” after completing chemotherapy treatment.

The princess added that her “path to healing and full recovery is long and I must continue to take each day as it comes”. She referred to “stormy waters” and an unknown road ahead.

Royal author, Ingrid Seward, whose book ‘My Mother and I’ examines the relationship between the King and his mother, also added: “Being so ill teaches you to enjoy each day as it comes, so I think she [Princess Kate] has a new appreciation of what’s going on around her, and what she can do to make life better for other people as well.”

Princess Kate is continuing to recover at her home in Adelaide Cottage, Windsor, after facing a gruelling cancer battle last year.

She was diagnosed with cancer within the first few months of 2024 after undergoing abdominal surgery, resulting in the need for the future Queen to put all royal duty on hold.

While she is yet to return to work in 2025, Princess Kate was reportedly kept busy this holiday by her three children Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, nine, and Prince Louis, six – which is the main thing she is focusing on following her health scare.

The princess was last seen publicly on Christmas Day 2024 as she stepped out with the rest of the Royal Family to head to the annual church service in Sandringham.
