The Princess of Wales has reportedly abandoned her role as “peacemaker” in ongoing royal feud between Prince William and Prince Harry.
The warring brothers, who were once said to have had a close relationship, have been at loggerheads for some time – with Kate reportedly taking on the role as “peacemaker” in their bitter feud.
Although Kate has reportedly tried to tame the feud in the past, she is now past trying and is said to be focusing on “far far” better things in her life.
Speaking to OK!, former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond said: “Catherine has far, far too much on her plate to bother about trying to rope in an estranged brother. Her focus is on her husband, her children and getting strong enough for a very gradual return to work.”
The royal has made it clear, even prior to her diagnosis, that Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis have remained her main priority – and they will continue to be so.
Ms Bond added: “I think her illness has made her marriage to William stronger than ever, and that was evident from the video.
“You can try playing peacemaker for just so long, and it looks as though she did make some attempt to bridge the gap.”
Explaining further, Ms Bond added: “But, in the end, your loyalty and your heart belong to your husband, and I don’t think Catherine will exert any pressure on William to hold out an olive branch to Harry unless he decides that’s what he wants. And that looks wholly unlikely for the foreseeable future.”
Prior to Ms Bond’s comments, author Christopher Andersen made a claim that Kate had “finally thrown up her hands in disgust” when it comes to the feud and was trying to focus on other things.
He told Fox News: “The idea that Kate somehow still has the time and energy to continue playing peacemaker is rubbish. She did try over a period of years and finally threw up her hands in disgust.
“She did her bit, but it wasn’t enough to build a bridge between William and Charles on the one side and Harry on the other.”
Although the feud has been ongoing for some time, Prince Harry’s exit from royal duties added extra fuel to the fire back in 2020.
