PRINCESS Diana’s childhood home is up for rent — but her island lake grave there remains off-limits.

Her brother, Earl Charles Spencer, has put Grade I-listed Althorp House on a posh Airbnb-style site.

Elysian Estates has not disclosed the cost, but guests would be paying tens of thousands for just a night’s stay at the mansion, which “sleeps 54” and sits in 13,000 acres in Northants.

Built in 1688, it is the Spencer clan’s ancestral home and boasts dining halls, a chapel, billiard rooms, priceless art and a picture gallery.

The agency can also offer flunkeys, chefs, helicopter transfer, a pianist, shooting, stalking and fireworks.

In a brochure blurb, it states: “Althorp offers unparalleled levels of service, privacy and luxury to rival the finest properties in the world.

“Walk in the footsteps of kings and queens, feast or celebrate in spectacular ­surroundings, marvel at the sense of history and artwork, and slumber in pure luxury.”

Princess Di was buried on the island on the estate’s Oval Lake in 1997 following her Paris car crash death.

Earl Spencer said the family chose the location to “act as a buffer against . . . the insane and ghoulish”.

No mention is made of it on the listing by Earl Spencer, who would run the rule over all rental applicants.

He was criticised in 2013 for letting Althorp for £25,000 a night to tourists with a travel firm.

Althorp estate has been approached for comment.
