Princess Charlene’s ten year old twins help host official start to State Visit by French President

The ten year old twins of Prince Albert and Princess Charlene of Monaco have joined their parents for the official welcome for the State Visit of the President of France.

As Emmanuel Macron and his wife, Brigitte, arrived at the Prince’s Palace in Monte Carlo, Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella were on hand to help with the ceremonial as the much anticipated event got under way.

Heir to the throne, Jacques, and his sister accompanied their parents to the red carpet where they waited for President and Mrs Macron to arrive. Prince Albert led the greetings with the President and First Lady of France both stooping down to kiss each of the twins on the cheek as they said hello to them.

Princess Gabriella, who is a few minutes older than Jacques but second in line as Monaco still favours boys above girls in succession laws, presented Brigitte Macron with a posy of red flowers as the welcome ceremony continued.

They then all watched a military parade in the open square at the heart of the Prince’s Palace.

The ceremony went off without a hitch. Just weeks ago, Emmanuel and Brigitte Macron were at the centre of a media storm after the French First Lady appeared to shove her husband in the face as they were about to disembark their plane at the start of a visit to Vietnam.

The French State Visit to Monaco got under way on the afternoon of June 7 2025, just hours after Prince Albert had attended the start of the Blue Economy and Finance Forum that will assemble dignitaries and experts from around the world to focus on ocean protection. The Prince of Wales will join the gathering on June 8 2025.

President Macron will attend a series of events with Prince Albert during the State Visit while Princess Charlene will take a high profile role alongside Brigitte Macron. The first day was set to end with a glittering State Banquet at the Prince’s Palace.
