Princess Anne has praised her sister-in-law Queen Camilla for the difference she has made through her royal role since King Charles, 76, took to the throne in 2022. The Princess Royal, 74, is known to have a good relationship with Camilla, 77, who she has known for a long time.
Speaking to Tatler, Anne praised Camilla’s actions since becoming Queen, including the way she has helped Charles. The King’s sister said: “Her (Camilla’s) understanding of her role and how much difference it makes to the King has been absolutely outstanding.
“I’m sure lots of people do say to her what a difference she’s made, but that is really true.”
Princess Anne’s comments about Camilla come just weeks after the Queen and King celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary.
The couple married in 2005 and have remained a solid team ever since, with Camilla having been seen over the last year stepping up in her royal duties more than ever while the King has been undergoing cancer treatment.
On their 20th wedding anniversary in Rome, Camilla revealed the secret to her strong marriage to the King. She told the British press: “What is the secret? I don’t know…well… I suppose it’s just sort of friendship, really.
“Laughing at the same things, getting on with life. I suppose doing this [gestures to the engagement] takes up most of the time… We are always going in different directions, like ships that pass in the night really. We whizz past each other. [But] In fact we have got a bit of a catch-up this afternoon.”
Camilla has also praised her husband’s work ethic, despite the fact she has reportedly been trying to encourage him to slow down and prioritise his health throughout his cancer treatment.
Speaking in Italy, the Queen said: “He loves his work and it keeps him going. And I think it’s wonderful, you know, if you’ve been ill and you are recovering, you’re getting better and now he wants to do more and more and more.
“That’s the problem. That’s what he’s driven by. Helping others.”
