Princess Anne was seen back on royal duties today as she attended the International Sheep Dog Trials at Syde Farm in Biggar, Lanarkshire.
The Princess Royal, 74, was all smiles at the event as she donned a casual outfit with brown knee-high boots, grey trousers and a black coat.
Anne added a dash of colour to her outfit on the cloudy day with her multi-coloured scarf.
The trials, which take place multiple times a year, are a practical demonstration of the skills the dog uses every day of their working lives.
The trials are organised so that sheepdogs compete against one another to work out which breed lines are producing the most able dogs.
This is worked out by challenging the dogs with a series of commands to complete a variety of tasks which reflect their everyday work with a “packet” of sheep (five sheep).
Each handler will have a preference when giving their commands, either by voice, by whistle, or a combination of both.
Princess Anne, who has a love of horses, appeared happy to be at the event which she attended without her husband Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence.
This comes after the princess had to step back from official duties earlier this year after an incident at her home in Gatcombe Park, Gloucestershire.
