Princess Anne hits the Corrie cobbles for a very serious reason – Royal Central

The Princess Royal made a visit to the set of the popular soap opera, Coronation Street. But the visit itself was for more than an afternoon of fun.

Next week, the drama will introduce a new storyline revolving around a devastating acid attack. The 72-year-old, who is patron of The Acid Survivors Trust International was given a preview of some of the scenes set to air while visiting the set in Manchester. The charity, which aims to end acid and burn violence on a global level has been working closely with the show on the new storyline.

In addition to viewing the scenes, Her Royal Highness met with Charlotte Jordan, who will play Daisy as who is attacked in an acid attack by her stalker, Justin. The Princess was also introduced to Andrew Still who plays Justin. Cast members Ryan Prescott, Rob Mallard, and Sally Ann Matthews also met the Princess Royal as she took her guided tour.

Addressing The Princess’ visit and new storyline, the show’s producer, Ian MacLeod said: “Working with ASTI on this storyline has been invaluable to all of us. HRH’s patronage of the charity is clearly of huge importance to both Her Royal Highness and the charity and it was an absolute honour to have them join us at Coronation Street today.

“The visit gave both cast and colleagues the chance to discuss how they have worked together to create and portray such a delicate and important storyline, an opportunity none of us will forget.”

Bosses for the show have confirmed Daisy will be the victim of an acid attack as her wedding to Daniel takes a devastating turn. This is as the bride-to-be realises her stalker Justin continues to torment her.

After getting Justin arrested by police, Daisy is stunned to learn he is released on bail which leads to new concerns her wedding could be canceled altogether. Daisy then requests a Stalking Protection Order. With Justin’s defence, her request is denied and she becomes even more fearful.

This isn’t The Princess’ first visit to the set as she previously visited in 2016. She is also not the first royal to visit – Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II was given a tour of the set in July 2021.
